Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi said on March 9 that Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Uruma Iwao’s reported remarks concerning alleged political funds from Nishimatsu Construction Co. calls into question his qualification as cabinet official.
Uruma reportedly told reporters on March 5 that the political fund scandal involving Democratic Party of Japan leader Ozawa Ichiro “would not spread to include lawmakers of the Liberal Democratic Party.”
Ichida called for efforts to disclose the truth since Uruma denied the reported remark. “If he really had made such comment, it is a grave issue,” Ichida added.
Uruma is the former commissioner-general of the National Police Agency.
