Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on March 18 met with a delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Commission for External Relations, headed by Hoang Binh Quan, chair of the commission, at the JCP head office.
Quan expressed congratulations on the success of the JCP’s 25th Congress in January and expressed his wishes for further advances of the JCP. He said that he appreciated the JCP’s contribution toward increasing positive relations between Japan and Vietnam, and hoped to develop further two-party relations that include theoretical exchanges.
Shii welcomed Quan and expressed the hope to further develop relations between the two parties, recalling his Vietnam visit in 2007 and the three-point agreement reached in 2007 with CPV General Secretary Nong Duc Manh: to contribute to the development of Japan-Vietnam relations, to cooperate for world peace, and to exchange opinions in theoretical fields as parties aiming to achieve socialism and communism.
Shii called for cooperation between the two parties for the total elimination of nuclear weapons, attaching importance to the coming review conference of the Non-proliferation Treaty.
He congratulated the Vietnamese on their continued economic growth despite the world economic crisis and hoped for further success in the Doi Moi (renovation) policies and the success of the CPV 11th Congress to be held in January next year.
