JCP chair sends best wishes for Vietnamese New Year

January 18, 2009
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo sent his best wishes for the Vietnamese New Year (Tet) at a reception held on January 17 at the Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo.

“Chuc mung nam moi!” (A happy New Year!) He began his speech by offering the New Year’s greeting in Vietnamese.

He stated that he is pleased to see relations developing between Japan and Vietnam, and between the Japanese and Vietnamese peoples.

Shii also said, “While the world experienced a financial crisis last year, we are witnessing the world advancing toward putting an end to the superpower’s unipolar hegemony. This marks the advent of a new era in which all 192 U.N. members can act as sovereign nations. We are glad to see Vietnam making steady progress in implementing its Doi Moi (renovation) policy.

The JCP chair had pleasant conversations with Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh, members of the Communist Party of Vietnam delegation visiting Japan, led by Tran Van Han, CPV External Relations Commission chair, and other participants, including ambassadors of ASEAN countries.
