Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on December 22 met with the Communist Party of China friendship delegation led by Li Jiheng, deputy secretary of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee, at the JCP head office in Tokyo.
Shii said that the decade-long ties between the two parties that developed since normalizing relations between the two parties are contributing to improving the Japan-China relationships over the past several years.
The two exchanged views on the global financial crisis.
Shii said that in Japan it is important for the government to take measures to help boost the country’s domestic demand. Action to stop large corporations from carrying out massive lay offs of temporary workers is a pressing task, and the movement in defense of their jobs is now developing throughout Japan, he added.
Li explained the Chinese government’s efforts to increase domestic demand, pointing out that that the present global financial crisis has had adverse effects on Chinese exporters, particularly in the coastal regions.
Shii pointed out that the present international financial crisis is the most serious one since the beginning of the era of capitalism, saying it will have great significance if China succeeds in dealing with this crisis as a country striving to achieve socialism.
