Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi on September 17 said, “The Chinese government should take all possible measures to secure the safety of Japanese citizens, companies, and the Japanese embassy in China.”
At the JCP’s speech assembly in Kounosu City, Saitama Prefecture, Ichida reiterated what Akahata called on the Chinese government to do on September 16 regarding reported violent acts against Japanese nationals in many parts of China.
“Violent acts as a way to express one’s criticism or protest should never be allowed for any case or reason,” Ichida stressed.
He added, “The Japanese and Chinese governments are responsible for making their utmost effort to have their citizens act calmly and without resorting to violence.”
