The Japanese Communist Party donated to the Japan Association of UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) 4.28 million yen collected in the JCP fundraising campaign for Myanmar’s cyclone victims.
JCP Chair Shii Kazuo on May 29 delivered the donation to the Association’s secretary-general Nemoto Kaoru.
Nemoto expressed gratitude for the donation and said that her organization will use it to help victims rebuild their living conditions there. She also said that the victims urgently need food, water, plastic sheets, and mosquito nets to prevent infectious diseases from spreading.
Shii and Nemoto discussed ways to cooperate with each other in sharing and publicizing information about damage inflicted on Myanmar by the cyclone.
