Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on January 28 criticized Prime Minister Abe Shinzo for having no reflection on the Liberal Democratic Party’s role in causing the current economic and diplomatic crises, commenting on Abe’s policy speech made on the same day, the first day of the ordinary session of the Diet.
The prime minister fails to point to any cause of the current crises or present any concrete measures to overcome them, Shii pointed out.
The JCP chair pledged that his party in the 150-day Diet session will urge the government to change the distorted political framework in favor of the U.S. government and Japanese business circles.
He also warned that a move to justify Japan’s past war of aggression would undermine Japan’s political and moral position to peacefully coexist with other countries in Asia and the rest of the world, and he said that in Diet deliberations, the JCP will express firm opposition to this move.
At a JCP parliamentarians’ meeting held on the same day, Shii stated that the Abe Cabinet’s policies are contrary to public will as the majority of people are opposed to the consumption tax hike and revision of Article 9 of the Constitution. He stressed the need to expand cooperation with people’s movements in every field in order to open a new political path.
