Shii attends inauguration events of South Korean president
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on February 25 attended a dinner party hosted by South Korean President Park Geun-hye at the Blue House in Seoul together with other foreign guests, following the president’s inauguration ceremony.
Shii offered his congratulations to Park, saying, “I hope that the friendly relationship between South Korea and the JCP will be further developed under the new administration.”
The delegation of the Japan-South Korea Parliamentarians’ Union, including JCP Chair Shii and JCP Lower House member Kasai Akira, visited the South Korean National Assembly building on February 26 and had friendly talks with assembly speaker Kang Chang-hee.
Shii said, “I am happy to have the opportunity to participate in the inauguration of the president. I will make further efforts to promote friendship between our nations as a member of the union. Japan needs to sincerely face its past history to resolve pending problems between our countries. I am sure that by doing so both countries will be able to build a warm relationship.”
Ogata has talks with ICAPP chairman
JCP Vice-Chair Ogata Yasuo on February 26 in Tokyo had a talk with Chung Eui-yong, Co-Chairman of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP).
Chung talked about the action policies of the ICAPP. Ogata mentioned that the ICAPP has a unique characteristic not found on other continents in that the ICAPP is comprised of all Asian political parties. Ogata stressed the importance of the further development of this international organization.
