Shii attends welcome party for S.Korean ambassador

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on June 18 attended a welcome party for the new South Korean Ambassador to Japan, Lee Byung-kee, which was hosted by the Japan-ROK Parliamentarians’ League at a Tokyo hotel.

Accompanied by JCP Lower House lawmaker Kokuta Keiji, Shii as a league advisor extended a warm welcome to the new ambassador.

JCP vice chair meets with Venezuelan gov’t official

Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on June 18 met with visiting Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister David Velasquez at a hotel in Tokyo.

Recalling what the late President Hugo Chavez had accomplished for democracy, Ogata said that Venezuela has played a significant role in promoting regional integration.

The deputy minister talked about the challenges Venezuela is now facing following the death of Chavez and the April presidential election, and said that he hopes to keep in close touch with the JCP.
