Fuwa Tetsuzo, director of the Social Sciences Institute of the Japanese Communist Party, on December 9 held talks with a delegation of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Public Administration at the JCP head office in Tokyo.
The group of Vietnamese scholars, headed by the academy’s deputy director Le Quoc Ly, is visiting Japan as part of their study regarding Vietnam’s Doi Moi (renovation) policy.
Fuwa and the researchers exchanged views on the issue of socialism and its transition, the limits of capitalism, the issue of the building of a law-governed nation, and the JCP role in the process of Japan’s economic and social development.
Fuwa introduced the history of JCP theoretical progress. He then explained the JCP position on various topics and what type of future society the JCP is working for.
Their focus of discussion moved to Japan’s pioneering role as a highly developed capitalist country. Fuwa said that even under capitalism, rules and regulations such as a legal limit to working hours which people and workers accomplish as a result of their struggles help to control the excesses of capital.
“In that sense, Japanese people are suffering from the country’s inadequate social rules and regulations. The JCP is striving for rules and regulations to be established in Japan that are at the same level as international standards,” said Fuwa.
