Shii attends farewell reception for Mexican ambassador
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on April 21 attended a farewell reception held in Tokyo for Mexican Ambassador to Japan Claude Heller.
Shii expressed his gratitude for the ambassador’s services during his tenure in improving relations between the two nations as well as the people of both countries, and for support of the movement for a nuclear-free world on behalf of his government.
The ambassador in 2012 and 2013 took part in the World Conference Against A and H Bombs and delivered a speech stressing the weakness in nuclear deterrence strategies and the importance of the role of civil society seeking the abolition of nuclear weapons.
Making active efforts for nuclear disarmament and a world without nuclear weapons, the Mexican government hosted the 2nd Conference on Humanitarian Impact of Nuclear Weapons in February.
