It has come to light that a study meeting containing a lecture on Japanese Self-Defense Forces’ international contribution for high school social studies teachers has been cancelled after the daily Akahata on July 5 published its concerns regarding the meeting.
According to Akahata, the meeting was initially scheduled to be held on July 17 at the Ground SDF Asahikawa Station by an organization for social studies teachers of public and private high schools in Hokkaido’s Asahikawa City.
The meeting program included a presentation on SDF activities for international contribution, a tour of the SDF base, and a visit to a SDF museum glorifying Japan’s past war of aggression.
In the Akahata report, parents and teachers criticized the program as an SDF propaganda event and demanded that the meeting be cancelled.
