Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on January 5 in a New Year address expressed his intention to submit to the ordinary session of the Diet a bill to abolish the system of state subsidies to political parties.
The JCP chair pointed out that during the general election campaign last month, many voters sympathized with the JCP’s call to scrap the unconstitutional public funding system which annually uses 32 billion yen in taxpayer money.
Shii added that the JCP will call on other political parties to support the bill. He also stressed the need to increase the strength of the people’s movement opposing the party subsidy system.
