Okinawa’s Nago City Assembly on January 29 unanimously adopted a statement in protest against a U.S. serviceman’s act of trespass.
At around 5:30 a.m. on January 19, a marine of U.S. Camp Schwab broke into two apartments in the city. He attempted to run away but was arrested two hours later. When apprehended, alcohol was reportedly detected on his breath.
Noting that this incident could have led to an injury case, the statement demands that both the U.S. and Japanese governments implement effective preventive measures immediately.
