Christian ministers request JCP to get war bills scrapped

May 16, 2015
A group of Christian ministers on May 14 visited the Japanese Communist Party to the Diet, requesting the party’s all-out efforts to stop Japan from moving toward becoming a war-capable nation.

JCP Diet Policy Commission Chair Kokuta Keiji (House of Representatives) met in the Diet building with this Christian group which was paying a visit to all political parties to request that they work to abolish the state secrecy law, block the implementation of Japan’s use of the right to collective self-defense, and defend the Preamble and the war-renouncing Article 9 of the Constitution.

A preacher said, “Prime Minister Abe promised the United States the enactment of the war bills even before his Cabinet submitted them to the Diet. I must say he is making light of parliamentary democracy and public opinion.”

Kokuta in response said, “The pro-war ruling force holds the majority of Diet seats now but the majority of people are opposed to war. Let us join hands with the people to protect the Constitution and throw out the war legislation-related bills.”
