Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on February 26 met with Vietnam’s new ambassador to Japan, Nguyen Phu Binh, at the JCP head office.
Binh said that the Communist Party of Vietnam General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and other Vietnamese party and state leaders had asked him to convey their best wishes to the JCP leadership.
He stated, “The Vietnamese people will never forget the JCP’s contribution to strengthening Japan-Vietnam friendly relations since the Vietnam War even when the two countries had not established diplomatic relations.”
Shii said, “I’m glad the Doi Moi policy is positively influencing Vietnam’s economy and foreign relations and that good relations between Japan and Vietnam have further developed.”
Referring to future JCP-CPV relations, Shii said that the JCP will continue to make efforts to achieve peace in Asia and the rest of the world and to engage in theoretical exchanges with the CPV.
