Anti-poverty NPO urges government ’s implementation of its promise on labor issue

September 1, 2009
In an appeal issued immediately after the House of Representatives election on August 30, the Anti-Poverty Campaign urged a new Democratic Party-led government to sincerely carry out its manifesto in easing the hardships in people’s daily living conditions.

The non-profit organization led by lawyer Utsunomiya Kenji in the fight against poverty emphasized that it will keep an eye on the new administration’s performance regarding the effort to put its public promises into practice without delay.

Expressing its welcome for the change in administrative power, the appeal stated that the Liberal Democratic-Komei coalition government had no intention to resolve the issue of poverty and actually continued worsening people’s living conditions.

The working masses are watching if the new administration will discontinue the adverse policies of the former administration and improve the living conditions of the general public. - Akahata, September 1, 2009
