Following North Korea’s missile launch on February 7, Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo issued a statement as follows:
The DPRK launched a de-facto ballistic missile on February 7. This move, along with its nuclear test conducted on January 6, is an integral part of its military operations closely linked to its nuclear weapons program and poses a grave threat to international peace and stability. It is also a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolutions which demand that the DPRK not conduct “any launch using ballistic missile technology” as well as of the Joint Statement of the Six Party Talks and the Japan-DPRK Pyongyang Declaration. The Japanese Communist Party strongly condemns today’s missile launch by the DPRK.
Now is the time for the international community to take effective measures in order to make the DPRK disengaged in the pursuit of nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities and the JCP strongly calls on the international community to do so by its enhanced diplomatic efforts.
