Postal workers stage strike to push company to offer substantial pay hike

The Postal Industry Workers’ Union (PIWU) went on strike nationwide to pressure Japan Post Holdings Co., Ltd. to meet the union’s demand in this year’s “shunto” wage talks for a monthly wage hike of more than 30,000 yen for regular workers and an hourly wage hike of more than 200 yen for non-regular workers.
