Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on December 8 held talks with new Cuban Ambassador to Japan Carlos Miguel Pereira at the JCP head office in Tokyo.
At the beginning of the talks, the ambassador expressed his gratitude to Shii for his condolence visit to the Cuban Embassy on the death of former President Fidel Castro. The ambassador also thanked him for a JCP representative’s participation in the memorial rally in Havana.
Explaining the 27th JCP Congress slated for January, Shii said that the JCP puts importance on the issue of eliminating nuclear weapons as well as support for the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
The two exchanged views on current Japan-Cuba relations and discussed developing bilateral relations at the government and political party levels.
