US marine in Okinawa arrested for shoplifting

The Okinawa Prefectural Police apprehended a 19-year-old U.S. marine in the act of shoplifting on December 17.

The marine is a Lance Corporal stationed at the U.S. Marine Corps Futenma Air Station in Okinawa. He is suspected of stealing some goods worth nearly 10,000 yen in total, including a knit cap, from a general store in Chatan Town.

The police said that the suspect admitted to the charges.
