Ogata meets with leader of CPN-UML
Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on February 28 met with Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) Chair Sharma Oli, a former Nepalese prime minister, in Kathmandu.
Referring to the present situation in Nepal, Oli said that the CPN-UML is campaigning for full implementation of the democratic constitution established in 2015, in opposition to moves to change the supreme law for the worse. He added that the party has just launched a nationwide campaign aiming to make progress from its current position of being the second largest party to become the leading party in the next national election.
Ogata expressed his gratitude to the CPN-UML for sending its message of support to the JCP 27th Congress held in January. He explained ongoing JCP activities to put into practice the adopted Congress Resolution, including efforts to tackle international challenges such as the total abolition of nuclear weapons.
Oli also introduced his party’s independent stance in regard to diplomacy and domestic affairs.
They confirmed that the two parties will continue to exchange views on the situations in South and Northeast Asia.
