A suspicion has risen that a dozen U.S. military personnel assigned to the U.S. Yokosuka Naval Base in Kanagawa have been involved in drug deals.
The U.S. Navy in Japan admitted on February 14 that the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) is currently investigating the crew in question on suspicion of using and trafficking in narcotics.
According to U.S. media reports, at least 12 servicemen, including Yokosuka-based USS Ronald Reagan crewmembers, allegedly committed the crime of drug trafficking, and the NCIS is now conducting a joint investigation with the Japanese police into the possible selling of illegal substances to some Japanese.
