Shii in comment opposes repressive measures in Hong Kong

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on August 30 issued the following statement regarding the detention of leaders of Hong Kong demonstrations:

I express strong concern over the detention of two leaders of the peaceful demonstrations in Hong Kong, Joshua Yong and Agnes Chow Ting, by Hong Kong police. I oppose repressive measures by the authorities against peaceful political activity which is a legitimate right of Hong Kong citizens. The JCP strongly hopes a peaceful solution to the situation will be found.
