Shii: To strengthen protests worldwide against Russia’s threat to use WMD against Ukraine is pressing need

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on March 23 delivered an online speech to Japanese lawmakers in the Diet.

After Zelenskyy’s speech, asked by the press in the Diet building, Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo noted that the Ukrainian leader expressed concern over a possible use of weapons of mass destruction such as chemical weapons and nuclear arms by Russia’s Putin administration.

Shii said that the urgent need now is for the international community to stand by the position that the use of WMD including chemical and biological weapons and nuclear weapons is not permissible. Shii also stressed that it should be more obvious that the only way to prevent the use of nuclear weapons is to pursue a world without nuclear weapons.
