JCP delegation visits left-wing and progressive parties in Europe to strengthen cooperation
|
A delegation of the Japanese Communist Party led by its Vice Chair and International Commission Chair Ogata Yasuo held a series of talks with left-wing and progressive political parties in France, Sweden, Germany, and Austria between November 7 and 12.
The main purpose for which the JCP sent its delegation was to foster a better understanding between the JCP and left-wing and progressive parties in Europe about their experiences as political parties working for social change in developed capitalist countries. The JCP also aims to establish cooperative relations with these parties.
The JCP seeks to strengthen collaboration with these parties on the following issues: the maintenance of the international order of peace based on the UN Charter; opposition to military alliances; the promotion of the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons; the fight against climate change; and the advancement of gender equality.
In the talks, the delegation exchanged views regarding the rise of right-wing forces in Europe as well as in Japan.
Political parties the JCP delegation talked with were the French Communist Party, La France Insoumise (France Unbowed), the Austrian Communist Party, the Swedish Left Party, the Party of the European Left, and the German Left Party (Die Linke).
