Reconstruction minister and internal affairs parliamentary vice minister dismissed
|
Reconstruction Minister Akiba Kenya and Parliamentary Vice Minister for Internal Affairs Sugita Mio will reportedly be dismissed from office.
Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Koike Akira at a press conference held in the Diet building on December 26 said that it is a matter of course for Akiba and Sugita to be forced out of the Cabinet as they have been criticized, respectively, for his dubious relationship with the antisocial Moon cult and for her discriminatory remarks against sexual minorities, an ethnic minority, and women.
Koike criticized Prime Minister Kishida Fumio for having them stay in their posts up to this day.
Koike said, "Akiba is the fourth minister who was ousted from the Cabinet after Terada Minoru (Internal Affairs Minister), Hanashi Yasuhiro (Justice Minister), and Yamagiwa Taishiro (Economic Revitalization Minister). I must say that the Kishida Cabinet is not a cabinet that should remain." Koike pointed out that the government is forcing through controversial policies one after another such as allowing the country to possess a preemptive enemy-strike capability, resuming operations of suspended nuclear reactors, and even constructing new reactors.
Koike demanded, "The Cabinet should resign en masse and PM Kishida should step down."
