Akahata’s poverty report receives journalism award

Akahata reporters’ book about children’s poverty has received a journalism award from an anti-poverty NGO.
Published by the Shinnihon Publishing Co. in 2010, the book, titled, “Can anyone give me something to eat?”, is based on a series of articles in Akahata published in 2009 that reported on the situation of Japanese children living in poverty.
The award is annually given by the Anti-Poverty Network to TV programs, radio programs, newspaper articles, and other forms of media coverage which have made an outstanding contribution to helping the public understand issues concerning poverty.
