2011 October 26 - November 1 [JCP]

10th JCP municipal mayor elected

October 31, 2011
A 62-year-old Japanese Communist Party member on October 30 won the Kamigori Town mayoral election in Hyogo Prefecture, creating the 10th municipality in Japan headed by a JCP member.

Kudo Takashi during the election campaign promised voters that he will work to establish a clean, fair, townspeople-oriented administration. He pledged to eradicate politics of greed, introduce a school-lunch system, provide free medical care for children up to 15 years old, and promote needed repair work on a river bank.

Kudo was previously a Town Assembly member. As he always received the largest number of votes in the last seven assembly elections (for 28 years), the townspeople have a deep trust in him. In the mayoral election as well, he garnered wide support.
