JCP calls for diplomatic effort to handle North Korean rocket launch
|
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on March 21 met with Chief Cabinet Secretary Fujimura Osamu at the Prime Minister Office and presented a JCP statement to Prime Minister Noda Yoshihiko, calling on North Korea to cancel the “rocket” launch plan.
Shii requested that the government make every possible diplomatic effort to discourage North Korea from launching a “rocket”.
Referring to the 2012 Nuclear Security Summit to take place in Seoul late this month, Shii suggested that Japan “use this opportunity to work to have North Korea cancel its rocket launch plan.”
Fujimura responded by saying, “We will increase our diplomatic efforts to stop (the launching). As for your suggestion, I will convey it to the prime minister.”
