Ex-mechanics of JAL aircraft want to work again
|
Laid-off maintenance engineers of a liquidated Japan Airlines’ subsidiary on May 14 called anew for their reinstatement to work during the first oral proceedings at the Tokyo District Court.
Plaintiff Izumi Seiji, a former worker at Nitto Aircraft Maintenance, expressed his pride in having contributed to safe aviation and his anger at the parent company JAL pushing his family into insecure living conditions. He said he is looking for a job at another JAL group company, JAL Engineering.
Nitto Aircraft Maintenance used to be contracted to do heavy maintenance, overhauling JAL aircraft. JAL last year, as part of its corporate restructuring scheme, closed this subsidiary and dismissed all of its 147 workers.
