Noda forms second reshuffled cabinet
|
Prime Minister Noda Yoshihiko on June 4 reshuffled his cabinet, intending to “create an environment to carry forward” the plan for a unified reform of taxation and social welfare systems.
This is Noda’s second reorganization of the cabinet. Five members left the post, including two who had been censured in the House of Councilors.
It is quite unusual to rearrange a cabinet when important bills are still being discussed in the Diet.
Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi on the same day at a press conference stated, “Noda’s intention is to force a consumption tax hike bill thorough the parliament in collusion with the Liberal Democratic Party. He made his cabinet members scapegoats to gain LDP support. That is the reason behind the reorganization.”
