JCP to hold its 25th Congress in January
|
The Japanese Communist Party Central Committee 6th Plenum on July 11 approved JCP Chair Shii Kazuo’s proposal for holding the JCP 25th Congress in January next year.
The JCP Congress is the party’s highest decision-making body. It elects the JCP Central Committee. The JCP Constitution provides that the party congress be held every two or three years.
Shii said that the next session of the JCP Central Committee Plenum will convene the JCP 25th Congress at least three months before the date set, in accordance with the JCP Constitution.
He also said, however, in case the House of Representatives is dissolved for a House of Representatives general election late this year or early next year, the congress will be delayed according to the party Constitution.”
