260,000 people sign petition for withdrawal of JAL crew dismissals

Another 14,000 people signed a petition calling for a fair ruling in the lawsuit filed by former pilots and cabin attendants of Japan Airlines who had been unfairly dismissed.

A plaintiffs’ group and a joint struggle organization supporting their fight in court on October 16 submitted these signatures to the Tokyo High Court. The number of signatures submitted to the court so far has reached 259,000 in total, and 10,375 organizations have also signed the same petition in support of the ex-JAL workers.

Head of the pilot plaintiffs Yamaguchi Hiroya said, “Our struggle is gaining much public attention and 851 lawyers have joined in our struggle. We want a just verdict based on the law, social justice concerns, and evidence presented.”

Uchida Taeko representing cabin crew said, “I also hope that the judges will give a favorable ruling following fair and objective deliberations.”

After submitting the new signatures to the court, they visited Dietmembers of the Japanese Communist Party, the Liberal Democratic Party, the Komei Party, the Democratic Party of Japan, and the Your Party to request that they participate in the upcoming rally that will be held to seek an early settlement of the case.
