US sergeant arrested for robbery

Naha Police on June 6 arrested a U.S. Marines sergeant assigned to Camp Hansen on suspicion of robbery resulting in injury. He is denying the accusation.
According to the police, the 26-year-old sergeant on May 24 punched a 21-year-old man in the face and robbed him of 4,000 yen in cash at around 5:30 a.m. in downtown Naha City, Okinawa. The victim suffered a fractured cheekbone.
Suspecting the existence of another U.S. serviceman as an accomplice, the police obtained an arrest warrant to look for the possible accomplice.
US Marines major indicted
The Naha District Prosecutors Office on June 6 summarily brought a charge against a U.S. Marines major assigned to Camp Courtney on suspicion of a hit-and-run.
The Naha Summery Court ordered 41-year-old John Jeonghoon Ahn to pay 330,000 yen in fines for the case which occurred in December last year in Okinawa City.
