US serviceman arrested for sexual molestation on JAL plane

Narita Airport Police on March 18 arrested a U.S. servicemember on suspicion of touching a girl’s thigh in a sexual manner and hitting her in the head while in flight.

The police said that a 33-year-old U.S. Navy lieutenant, while aboard a Japan Airlines aircraft bound for Narita from San Diego, touched the thigh of a 19-year-old female college student who was sitting to the right of the suspect.

The suspect reportedly said he is assigned to the U.S. Atsugi base, Kanagawa Prefecture, and denied the charge by saying that he has no memory of such conduct.
