JCP receives visit by VGCL
The Japanese Communist Party on April 22 received a visit from a 5-member delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), which is visiting Japan at the invitation of the National Confederation of Trade Unions (Zenroren), at the JCP head office in Tokyo.
JCP Central Committee member Ohata Motoo, who is in charge of labor issues, and Tagawa Minoru, JCP International Commission secretary, met with the Vietnamese delegation.
Welcoming the delegation, Ohata expressed his pleasure that the relationship between the JCP and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has been developing well as seen in the successful talks held in September last year by JCP Chair Shii Kazuo and CPV General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trongin.
Regarding the House of Councilors election scheduled for this summer, the JCP labor bureau chief said that people’s joint struggle for abolishing the war legislation has been increasing both in quality and quantity, and that the power map in the present political arena has become a “Liberal Democratic Party/Komei plus their supplementary forces versus the four opposition parties plus citizens” setup.
He then explained the JCP’s view on the issue regarding the South China Sea. He said, “Our party demands that China stop unilateral actions to change the status quo and other actions that would heighten military tensions in the South China Sea.” He also said that the JCP will work even harder to help create an international framework of peace and cooperation in Northeast Asia.
