US sailor arrested for drunken driving despite US military’s promise to tighten discipline
|
While Okinawans are raising outcries against an incident in which an ex-U.S. marine allegedly killed a young local woman and abandoned her body, another U.S. serviceman assigned to Camp Foster on May 22 was arrested for drunk driving.
The Okinawa Prefectural Police announced that the alcohol level they detected on the 28-year-old sailor was 2.5 times higher than the legal limit for a driver of a moving vehicle.
The U.S. military in Okinawa has promised to tighten discipline among all U.S. soldiers and civilian employees at U.S. bases in response to the former marine’s crime.
