Ogata talks with representative of Communist Party of Vietnam

Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on September 8 held a talk with Tran Dac Loi, the deputy head of the Commission for External Relations of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, at the JCP head office in Tokyo.

The two talked about the development of friendly and cooperative relations between the two parties and exchanged views on various regional and international affairs.


Shii talks with outgoing Cuban Ambassador to Japan

JCP Chair Shii Kazuo on September 12 held a talk with Cuban Ambassador to Japan Marcos F. Rodriguez Costa who visited the JCP head office to say goodbye before leaving Japan.

Rodriguez expressed his gratitude to Shii for the JCP support for his activities during his four-year service as ambassador.

In reply, Shii showed his appreciation to Rodriguez and expressed his respect for Cuba’s commitment to a global campaign for a nuclear weapons-free world, referring to the fact that the Cuban government has annually sent a delegation to the World Conference against A and H Bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The ambassador also said that Cuba is going ahead with diplomatic normalization talks with the United States while keeping its own pride and dignity, and that his country is also working to strengthen its economic ties with Japan.

Shii welcomed the ongoing negotiations between Cuba and the U.S. He went on to stress the importance of lifting the economic blockade on Cuba and settling the issue of the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay to achieve full normalization.
