US sailor in Okinawa arrested for assault

Okinawa Police on October 30 arrested a 22-year-old U.S. Navy petty officer 3rd class assigned to Camp Zukeran (Camp Foster) for using a choke hold on a Japanese man in Chatan Town in Okinawa.

Charles Wayne Lebaron reportedly admitted to the charge, saying, “It’s true. I did it and I am sorry.”

According to the police, Lebaron under the influence of alcohol assaulted a 21-year-old part-time worker on a street in the town at around midnight on October 29. The two had no personal acquaintance with each other.
