Ogata meets with Vietnamese ambassador

Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on December 13 met with Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong in Tokyo.

The two talked about regional and international affairs and the current political situation in Japan.

Shii talks with French ambassador

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on December 15 held talks with French Ambassador to Japan Thierry Dana at the JCP head office in Tokyo.

The talks with the French ambassador began with his question about the JCP’s take on the domestic situation in addition to its international activities. Shii explained to the ambassador about the JCP’s role in a movement to repeal the unconstitutional security-related laws and the party’s proposal for economic reform to eliminate poverty and social inequalities.

In response to Dana’s request for a more detailed explanation about the JCP, Shii said that the JCP seeks to advance step by step democratic reforms within the framework of capitalism. Shii also clarified how the JCP established its position of sovereign independence through its struggles against interference by China and the former Soviet Union.

Shii hold talks with South African ambassador

Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on December 15 met with South African Ambassador to Japan Beryl R. Sisulu at the JCP headquarters in Tokyo.

At the beginning of the talks, Shii noted that the launch of negotiations on a Nuclear Weapons Convention has been agreed upon by the United Nations, and said this is an epoch-making event. The Non-Aligned Movement and the South African government have made major contributions to achieve this, Shii added.

The two exchanged views on various topics such as the need to develop mutual friendship and economic relations, the two countries’ political and social situations, the roles of democracy and political parties, and the importance of diplomatic policy without relying on military alliances.
