Okinawa’s Tomigusuku Police on February 5 arrested a U.S. Marine on the spot on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Reportedly, USMC Lance Corporal Melbin Leonardo Nunez, who is stationed at the U.S. Futenma base, admitted to the allegations.
According to the police, before dawn on the same day, Nunez, 20, was stopped at a traffic checkpoint on a Naha City road. The police detected more than three times the legal limit of alcohol on his breath. The suspect said he was a construction worker at first, but was later found to be a U.S. Marine.
