Ogata mourns the death of former French President Chirac

Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on October 1 visited the French Embassy in Tokyo and offered his condolences on the death of former French President Jacques Chirac.

Ogata conveyed to Minister Counselor Jean-Baptiste Lesecq and Counsellor in charge of public relations Christine Carole his sympathy to the French government and the bereaved family.

Ogata pointed out that in 2003, Chirac worked hard to lead opposition to the U.S-led Iraq War, and recounted an episode that the then President Chirac made corrections to the text of a speech at the last moment which was delivered by the then French foreign minister to the UN Security Council.

Lesecq expressed his gratitude for Ogata’s visit and noted that Chirac promoted France-Japan friendship.

Koike attends South Korea’s reception to celebrate ‘Gaecheonjeol’

Japanese Communist Party Secretariat Head Koike Akira on October 3 attended a reception held by the South Korean Embassy held at a Tokyo hotel to celebrate South Korea’s National Foundation Day known as Gaecheonjeol.

Koike greeted South Korean Ambassador to Japan Nam Gwan-pyo and expressed his congratulations. Koike had friendly conversations with foreign and domestic guests.

JCP parliamentarians Kasai Akira and Kokuta Keiji also took part in the reception.
