All 23 JCP candidates win in local assembly elections

All 23 Japanese Communist Party candidates won in 16 local municipal assembly elections held on April 11. The number of JCP seats in these assemblies increased by one from the previous election.

In the Shobara City Assembly election in Hiroshima Prefecture, two JCP candidates including the incumbent won their seats, adding one seat to the pre-election strength. In the election, the party increased both the number of votes and the share of votes.

Furthermore, on the same day, two JCP-backed candidates were elected in mayoral elections held in Hyogo’s Takarazuka City and Tokyo’s Hinode Town.
