Solidarity flags sent from antinuke group in Kobe to S. Korea’s peace march
|
Akahata reported on May 13 that the Hyogo Prefectural Council against A and H Bombs (Hyogo Gensuikyo) sent solidarity flags to a peace march hosted by the South Korean peace group, the Solidarity for Peace and Reunification of Korea (SPARK), which started from Busan on April 27.
The SPARK this year for the first time conducted a peace march as part of its efforts to realize a nuclear-free Busan Port following the “Nuclear-free Kobe Formula”. According to the SPARK, after departing Busan, peace marchers will walk northwards and reach Imjingak Park located within the demilitarized zone on July 27, the day commemorating the signing of the Korean War Armistice Agreement.
The Hyogo Gensuikyo has been developing mutual relations with the SPARK since 2019 after they participated in a forum which the Japan Gensuikyo held in South Korea under the theme, “For a world free from nuclear weapons and a denuclearized Korean Peninsula”.
Hyogo Gensuikyo executive Tsugawa Tomohisa said to Akahata that he hopes that the two organizations will continue exchanging information on their activities.
The "Nuclear-free Kobe Formula", which was established in 1975, blocks the entry of nuclear-armed warships into the port.
