Osprey accidents already caused 63 deaths
|
There have been a series of Osprey crashes since the development stage. According to an Akahata calculation, Osprey accidents, including crashes, have killed 63 crewmembers so far.
Over the past two years alone, four Osprey crashes occurred with the loss of 18 lives.
The 63 deaths include six of the eight crewmembers on board of a CV-22 Osprey that crashed off the shore of Yakushima Island (Kagoshima Pref.) on November 29. As of December 5, the search still continues for the remaining two.
Osprey aircraft produce so many casualties that the U.S. media once called the aircraft a “flying coffin”.
Citizens may be victims in Osprey accidents if the situation remains. The government should abandon the planned deployment of structurally-defective, accident-prone Osprey aircraft in Japan.
