JCP publishes general election policies aimed at promoting reforms to eliminate distortions in LDP politics

October 11, 2024

Japanese Communist Party Executive Committee Chair Tamura Tomoko on October 10 held a press conference in the Diet building and announced the JCP policies for the coming general election titled, “With JCP’s major advance as the goal to achieve, let us promote reforms to eliminate distortions in Liberal Democratic Party politics.”

Tamura pointed out that the LDP-led government has reached an impasse because of the distortions in LDP politics which puts the interests of the business circles and large corporations first, takes a submissive stance in relation to the United States, and puts absolute priority on the Japan-U.S. military alliance. She expressed her determination to achieve a major advance in the general election by saying, “As a political party striving for the elimination of the distortions in LDP politics, only if the JCP achieves a major advance in the coming election can we put an end to the LDP-led government.”

The JCP election platform consists of six pillars: put an end to the corrupt LDP politics and restore public trust in politics; rebuild Japan’s economy with people-oriented measures; block the move to turn Japan into a “war-fighting nation” which regards the Japan-U.S. military alliance as absolute; create a government which truly works to overcome the climate crisis; improve Japan’s backwardness in gender equality and human rights; and change the government to one respecting people’s lives and livelihoods and protecting their rights.

JCP Policy Commission Chair Yamazoe Taku was also present at the press conference.
