Members of the Nuclear Safety Commission (NSC) who examine new safety standards at nuclear power plants received at least 33.47 million yen from NPP-related corporations and organizations over the past 5 years, Akahata revealed on April 11.

They include university professors and 6 out of 29 members of the NSC’s Special Committee on Nuclear Safety Standards.

During the period between FY 2006 and 2010, they received a total of 7 million yen from nuclear reactor manufacturer Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and 12.74 million yen from the Japan Atomic Industrial Forum.
