JCP leaders meet with foreign diplomats attending Congress

During the first day of the Japanese Communist Party 25th Congress on January 13, Chair Shii Kazuo and other JCP leadership members met with attending diplomats from 19 countries.
Shii in his speech welcoming the visitors explained that the JCP’s contacts with foreign governments are an important part of its diplomatic activities, adding, “The JCP and governments of other countries have shared interests regarding some issues and have differences on others. I hope that you will take a direct look at how the JCP is working in Japanese politics which is undergoing major changes and that our mutual understanding and friendship will deepen.”
JCP leadership members attending the meeting included JCP Secretariat Head Ichida Tadayoshi, JCP Vice Chairs Ishii Ikuko, Ogata Yasuo, and Hamano Tadao, and Social Sciences Institute Director Fuwa Tetsuzo.
