Shii attends S. Korean president’s inauguration
Japanese Communist Party Chair Shii Kazuo on February 25 attended the inauguration ceremony of South Korea’s President Park Geun Hye. It was the first time for the JCP to send its representative to the inauguration of the country’s head.
Invited by the presidential inauguration organizing committee of the South Korean government, Shii joined a delegation of the Japan-Korea Parliamentarians’ Union.
After the ceremony, Shii said to reporters, “The JCP will work hard in order for the two countries as well as both peoples to develop our friendship.”
Later on the same day, Shii also took part in a luncheon party hosted by the Korea-Japan Parliamentarians’ Union. He talked with Korean lawmakers, including Union Chair Hwang Woo-yea.
JCP Ogata attends Kuwait’s independence day event
Japanese Communist Party Vice Chair Ogata Yasuo on February 25 attended a reception held at a Tokyo hotel to celebrate Kuwait’s independence from Britain as well as the end of Iraq’s occupation of Kuwait.
Ogata offered congratulations to Kuwaiti Ambassador to Japan Abdul-Rahman Al-Otaibi who hosted the event, and talked with other Japanese and foreign guests.
